Powering our Communities Fund
Community and local energy projects that involve low carbon technologies such as wind, PV, hydro, heat pumps or an electric vehicle charging point will require a connection to our network. You can learn more about these technologies in our Guide to Low Carbon Technologies linked below.
Applications for a new connection are made to our connections team. We encourage community and local energy groups to engage with us at the early stages of their project development so we can advise on the availability of connections in their planned location and provide information about our connections process. We have also worked with other Distribution Network Operators (DNO) and the industry body, Energy Networks Association (ENA), to produce guidance on how to connect to a network.
Some projects may also be interested in other ways of interacting with us such as on innovation projects or by providing flexible services.
