Funding
The Powering our Communities Fund is now closed to applications. Thank you very much to everyone who has submitted an application.
2022 - 23 funding winners
In the latest round of funding we awarded almost £95,000 to seven different projects. These were:
The Community Energy Revolution: North West Community Energy Research - This project will enable NW community energy groups to take part in the formation of a national policy for the right to local supply that Power for People is campaigning to get included in the Energy Security Bill.
Home Grown Electric for EV Charging - The aim of this project is to improve the usage and therefore viability of PV for community centres by developing the Charge my Street app so the community buildings can sell their surplus power to co-located CMS EVCs. Will also help secure CMS's future.
Decarbonising Rossendale - This project will provide project management and engagement for the development of a 2MW community solar farm and a project to see the conversion of a terraced street to low carbon heat.
Development of Skelmersdale Community Energy - This project will provide staff resources to Skelmersdale Community Energy Association to develop a business plan, and engagement activities and share prospectus to deliver a community owned renewable energy scheme. It will also develop initiatives to help households in fuel poverty
Low Carbon Community Heat: Calder Vale Village and WH King Almshouse - This project will deliver community engagement and a feasibility study for a low carbon heat solution in an isolated village near the Forest of Bowland.
Solar Made Easy - This project will extend the Solar Made Easy project which links households and community buildings to local installers and community energy groups to facilitate PV installations.
Who can apply?
Applications will be accepted from a wide range of organisations including community benefit societies, industrial provident societies, charities, schools or local authorities. However, you must be able to show community involvement or local benefit of your project.
We also welcome projects in partnership with organisations such as local authorities and businesses as long as it's clear what control and benefit the local community will have as a result of the project. Our fund is open to all parts of our community and we particularly welcome applications from ethnic minority groups.
